Sameera

Her film Musafir (2004) opposite Anil Kapoor made her popular as a sex symbol. It was a controversial film which also included a kissing scene between her and Anil Kapoor.

Her debut film was Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (2002) opposite Sohail Khan. She has also acted in Telugu and Bengali films.

Sameera did her bachelors from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai.

Sameera Reddy belongs to Hyderbad, Andhra Pradesh. She has two sisters, Meghna and Sushma, who are also from show business. Meghna Reddy was a popular VJ on Channel V (India) and Sushma is a Bollywood actress. Sameera is a far relative of King Fisher owner Vijay Mallya.

Sameera, who ventured into Bollywood with films like Musafir and did only item songs rather than acting, got a shock when maverick director Nagesh Kukunoor got her to play the role of a rustic Rajasthani woman in his latest low-budget movie ‘Yeh Hausla’.

Last year was not so good for Nagesh’s films as his first commercial movie Bombay To Bangkok was a flop and his action-thriller with Akshay Kumar is yet to make it to the theatres. Then his Aashayein with John Abraham is still waiting to release.
But the director is not bogged down by all this and is geared up for a film based on the life of a Dalit woman, played by Sameera Reddy. Nagesh has been hearing comparisons drawn between Sameera and Smita Patil by Buddhadeb Dasgupta, talented Bengali director who signed Sameera to play a deglamorised Bengali lady in his film ‘Kalpurush’.
