Skin-Care Basics
Skin, like style, is unique. There are 35 different shades of African-American skin tones and probably just as many subtle gradations of Asian, Latin, Native-American and Middle-Eastern complexions. Uniting them all is tone rather than actual color. Identifying your skin tone is key to finding the right makeup for you. To fast track on this, Asian and Latina skin tends to be yellow-based and warm in tone. Darker African-American skin has blue and red undertones and is predominantly cool. Confused? Don’t be. Halle Berry has warm tones, Alek Wek has cool tones. The darker your skin tones the more blue undertones it may have. Ironically, very pale skin is cool as well because pigment is the variant here, not tone
